A Treat for the Entire Family

With life as chaotic as ever, we’re all looking for ways to make scrumptious food that’s quick and easy, and won’t leave you spending hours in the kitchen. Whether you’re single with a hectic career or have a van full of kids, dinner can be an absolute breeze!

Our super juicy grilled burgers with blue cheese and avocado are bound to please young and old.

With a combination of 100% ground beef and sweet Italian pork sausage, this delicious recipe is spiced to perfection using Belle Donne’s Ground Rosemary along with the ever-popular Sea Salt and Black Pepper.

The Ultimate Classic with a Twist

Hamburgers have come a long way from humble beginnings as a working-class treat in the 20th century, to what now can be a bespoke delicacy. Although simple, there’s nothing fast food about this recipe.

As burgers have sustained their popularity over the years, more and more foodies have started experimenting with these delightful classics. From mega burgers to bacon bits and everything in between, there’s nothing you won’t be able to find between those delicious buns.

Hence, blue cheese and avocado. The richness of your juicy beef patty, mixed in with the smooth texture of avocado, is simply divine. In combining this with the sharpness of blue cheese and with your classic greens, you’re bound to have a winning combination.

While blue cheese is an acquired taste on its own, it works beautifully alongside these other ingredients and will be enjoyable for all, even if you’re not a fan.

We’ve Got Some Side Dish Inspiration

In addition to serving scrumptious burgers, you might want to finish off your dish with a tasty side.

If you’re looking to shed a few pounds, why not make a fresh side salad or roast some winter veg on a cold day.

However, we’ve all heard the saying that nothing goes together like burgers and fries. If you’re feeling creative, you could make some homemade sweet potato fries and spice them with our delicious Bella Donna Spanish Paprika.

Whatever you decide, this perfect, fail free recipe is sure to delight. Whether you’re cooking for yourself, friends, or family, you’ll probably be known as a master chef after this meal.

Tip: This recipe doesn’t specifically call for bacon, but it would be a wonderful addition to the blue cheese and avocado.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. regular ground beef
  • 1 lb. ground sweet Italian pork sausage (no casings)
  • 3 T. Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ c. white onion, very finely minced
  • 4 cloves garlic, very finely minced
  • 1 T. Belle Donne Ground Rosemary
  • Belle Donne Sea salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Blue cheese, crumbled
  • 8 hamburger buns, lightly toasted*
  • 2 T. unsalted butter, melted

*To toast buns, brush the inside surface of each bun with the melted butter and place over indirect heat while the burgers are cooking.

Toppings

  • Leaf lettuce
  • Tomato, sliced
  • Avocado, sliced

Directions

  1. Clean grill grates and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Pre-heat grill to high.
  2. Add ground beef, sausage, Worcestershire sauce, onion, garlic, and rosemary to a large glass bowl. Season with salt and black pepper, to taste, and combine thoroughly. Make sure both types of meat and all seasonings are completely incorporated throughout the mixture.
  3. Divide meat mixture into 8 equal parts and shape each part into ¾-inch thick patties. Place patties on a lined tray and use your thumb to create an indent in the middle to keep them from puffing up while cooking.
  4. Place patties over direct, high heat on your grill and cook for 8-10 minutes.<br<
Tip: Actual cooking time will depend on desired level of doneness, so check after 4-5 minutes and adjust final cook time accordingly. (According to the USDA, the safe internal temperature for ground beef and pork is 160°F. Use an instant read thermometer to confirm).
  5. Flip and move burgers to indirect heat 2-3 minutes before they are done. Top with blue cheese and close lid to allow cheese to melt completely.
  6. Transfer burgers to a platter and serve immediately on toasted hamburger buns and topped with lettuce, tomato, and avocado slices. Enjoy!
